SEA San Antonio KidsFish

Touching Tomorrow by Teaching Today

SEA San Antonio KidsFish is both an
educational and recreational program
designed to teach kids about coastal resources
and their preservation and conservation.

KidsFish trips begin with a visit to the Marine Development Center in Corpus Christi, Texas, starting with a tour of the facility.  The kids learn about the center’s history and its work in rearing red drum and spotted sea trout.  A tour of the spawning tanks follows, then moves to the incubator room and concludes at the outdoor rearing ponds.  Here the children are treated to some great catch-and-release fishing, with the help of SEA volunteers.  The event wraps up with lunch prepared and served by SEA San Antonio.

SEA San Antonio is proud to have partnered with the following organizations:

Mission Road Ministries (MRM)

MRM is a non-profit organization located in San Antonio, Texas which serves more than 500 children and adults with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities, offering assistance with residential, day services and vocational programs.  Founded in 1947, MRM cares for children with mental retardation who have been removed from their families by Child Protective Services because of neglect or abuse.

Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services

Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services (PCHAS) got its start in 1903, when a mother dying from tuberculosis asked her minister to help her find someone to care for her four young children.   SEA San Antonio has partnered with a PCHAS home where house parents care for 10 to 12 young men ages 13 through 18 who have suffered the loss of their parents.

San Antonio Youth Centers

The mission of the San Antonio Youth Centers is to develop the strengths, talents and skills of inner-city youth and their family members so that each person fulfills his or her own potential.  Since 1984, San Antonio Youth Centers has been providing safe places and caring adults for children and young adults, nurturing the positive assets in each so that he or she may achieve his or her own dreams.

NATHANIEL HAWTHORNE ACADEMY

Hawthorne Academy is the first school in the SAISD to have adopted a Pre-K through academy school model.  Hawthorne’s purpose as a charter school is to ensure that each student has the resources, abilities and inspiration to overcome obstacles, fulfill obligations and achieve dreams.  Hawthorne is a three-time TEA Recognized School.  SEA San Antonio is proud to partner with DPT Labs in hosting KidsFish for Hawthorne Academy.
